2023 Battle of the Books
CHAMPIONS

The Battle of the Books Club is back for 4th and 5th grade students! The club is designed to encourage elementary school students to:

  • Read quality literature

  • Read in their leisure time during the school year

  • Read for information as well as pleasure

Fourth and fifth grade students of all reading levels are invited to participate. By choosing to participate in this club, your child will be introduced to a variety of fiction and non-fiction books. Students are expected to read at least seven (7) titles from the book list. Many of the books are award-winning pieces of literature.

During this school year, participating students will work to collaboratively to discuss the books and respond to questions about plot, characters, setting and theme. Regular attendance and appropriate behavior at club meetings is expected.

At the end of the ten study sessions, student teams will compete against one another at our schoolwide Fox Hollow Battle of the Books competition. The winning Fox Hollow team will then represent our school to compete in the semi-finals. The top 6 Cherry Creek schools will compete at the district final competition.

More information and PERMISSION SLIPS can be found here. Permission slips are due by September 13, 2024, to Mrs. Peters.
